Western Maritime Academy, Bangladesh

Western Maritime Academy (WMA) is a private Maritime Training
Institute established in 2012 with due approval of Department of Shipping,
Govt. of Bangladesh. The Academy's primary mission is to train future marine
officers in an appropriate learning environment under strict internal and
external Quality Assurance of WMA and Scotland’s largest College, City of
Glasgow College, UK (CoGC). WMA offers British HND under 1 + 1 Training
Partnership Agreement with CoGC. As a part of academy’s commitment to continual
improvement, WMA has been shifted to its
new location at Uttara, Dhaka, Bangladesh from its old location at Rupshi,
Narayanganj. The new campus is purpose-built with standard facilities
like well stocked library, modern Class Rooms, Auditorium, Computer Club,
Workshop, modern audiovisual equipment and other required resources. WMA also
ensures extra-curricular activities such as team sports, field trips,
industrial visits, swimming etc for its students. Our students love it here at WMA. We want to
make sure that each of our students is prepared for a successful marine career
in future. We are indeed “Empowering the Next Generation Mariners’, which is
used as WMA’s slogun.

The Institute is running under strategic
leadership and guidance of Vice Admiral Zahir Uddin Ahmed, (Retd), who is the
Chairman of WMA. He is also a former Navy Chief (Bangladesh Navy ) and Ex.
Commandant of Bangladesh Marine Academy.
