Health And Nutrition Orphan & Child Welfare Humanitarian Assistance And Early Recovery Climate Change And Disaster Resilience Programmes
Islamic Relief Worldwide, based in the UK, started its journey in 1984 and seeks to promote sustainable economic and social development of poor communities through relief and development interventions. Islamic Relief Bangladesh started its operation in the country in 1991 in order to help the distressed survivors of a devastating cyclone in Chittagong. Islamic Relief’s vision is to seek a society in which everyone has access to basic needs for a dignified life; is empowered to improve their lives and that of their communities and managing their own resources in sustainable and efficient ways.
Islamic Relief Bangladesh has been implementing varied interventions through 31 projects under five broad programming areas which include (i) Sustainable Livelihoods, (ii) Health and Nutrition, (iii) Orphan & Child Welfare, (iv) Humanitarian Assistance and Early Recovery and (v) Climate Change and Disaster Resilience Programmes. The organization has various departments for implementation of programmes/projects which include Finance, Audit, General Administration, HR, Monitoring and Research, Advocacy and Communications, etc.
Currently, Islamic Relief Bangladesh has 336 full time staff members. The organization has offices in Rangpur, Sylhet, Sunamganj, Rajbari, Bagerhat, Thakurgaon, Khulna, Satkhira, Patuakhali, Borguna and Chittagong districts of Bangladesh.
