Government has approved the visa policy with a view to modernize and simplify it for the foreigners whereas some measures have been taken to tighten the security loopholes. The previous visa policy will automatically cease to work for October 19, 2006, the commence date of the new visa policy.

\r\nThe new policy has aimed to facilitate visa extension, regularization of illegal overstaying and to extend the list of approved countries for landing visa or Visa on arrival. Foreigners who are over-staying can regularize their illegal staying taking permission from proper authority paying appropriate fees. Landing visa can be allowed to the citizens of approved countries up to 30 days on presenting satisfactory document to the immigration office.

Another arrested for Passport forgery
Immigration police has arrested Zahed of son of Mr. Jalaluddin of Sunamgonj district when he was trying to depart for Dubai using a fake passport after changing the picture of the original passport owner. The original passport was issued in the name of Malek Mia son of Abdul Hamid of KeraniGanj, while an imposter agent Sujon had given him a way to use this passport, Sujon changed the Picture of Malek and placed Zaheda??s picture, he divulged in the interrogation.
Arrestee shows travel agency for illegal trafficking
Saudia travels has been found involved in producing fake travel document after changing the picture. Fact revealed when one Shadat Hosain was arrested at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport while arriving from Sudan by emirates airways. He was found with a fake departure stamp in the passport. He admitted that he had paid 130,000 to Julfikar of Saudia travel while he was trying to leave for Sudan, Julfikar arranged the fake passport with a forged stamp of departure and directed him to go straight to aircraft with out carrying out immigration formalities.
Charge sheet submitted against woman and children traffickers by special branch.
Special branch, Bangladesh Police has submitted charge sheet against 37 accused person for attempted trafficking of 31 women. On 17/11/2006 Officer in charge of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport immigration arrested a gang of human traffickers including 5 employee of manpower bureau while they were trying to send 31 women to Middle East by Gulf and Qatar airlines. A case was filed under woman and children trafficking act and special branch took over the investigation of the case. At the time of investigation around 400 false passport, false medical certificate and false manpower clearance certificate forms were confiscated with a computer hard disk from win international travel agency. After investigation charge sheet submitted to the court against 37 persons including 20 FIR named accused. Investigating officer submitted 361 evidences including video clip, computer hard disk, passport etc.
E-Immigration: Online ED card fill up facilities.
1. Since October 2006, Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Immigration introduced E-Immigration a?? online ED card fill up facilities with a view to provide speedy immigration assistance to passengers. A passenger either incoming or outgoing is to fill up Embarkation-Disembarkation card in immigration website (www.immi.gov.bd) and in return will obtain an Immigration Service Code (IS Code). A printed ED card from website or a traditionally filled up ED card with IS code reference will ease and quicken the immigration process. According to the existing law, it is individuala??s responsibility to provide all necessary information to airlines and carriersa?? responsibility to provide passengersa?? information required in ED card to Immigration authority.
