One of the major themes that will definitely dominate the third millennium is Computer Science and Information Technology. In Order to take a share in the Scientific and Commercial advancement of the challenging new world, education in computer technology and the need of skilled computer personnel are essential are with this end in view Dhaka City College introduced 4-year B.Sc (Hons) in Computer Science from the session 1998-1999. In the Speed of education and the development of communication including almost all important aspects of life, computer has ushered in a new era. The developed world, however, has already succeeded in adopting computer technology most extensively. Nevertheless, the fact remains that the developing countries like Bangladesh have not advanced at the same pace in this field. Yet, in the age of globalization, we are no secluded island nor can we sustain our existence being isolated from the world as a whole. As a result, the extensiveness in the use of computer in education, business, financial organizations, government and non-government sectors has become an imperative in our country too. Dhaka City College has always been untiringly sincere in presenting the nation with skilled personnel capable of contributing substantially in nation-building activities. With a view to maintaining this endeavor as well as nourishing our long-cherished desire of making this institution �A Centre of Excellence�, Dhaka City College has already moved one step further towards its goal with the introduction of 4 year B.Sc (Hons) in Computer Science and Engineering from the session 2006-2007.
