History
Chittagong College in one of the leading and prestigious colleges inBangladesh. Chittagong District School of 1836 was upgraded to as intermediate college in 1869. Science discipline in Intermediate level was introduced in the year 1909 and then the institution turned into college in 1910. At present this college is providing Graduation Courses in 17 Subjects and postgraduate courses in 18 subjects. Till today it conducts H.S.C. courses in science and Humanities. The total number of students stands about 17000 presently.The college has five academic buildings, a library having approximately 60000 books, a two storied mosque and a large auditorium with all academic facilities. The play ground of the college is known to all as parade Ground. Many students of the college have made a significant contribution to different social, economic, political and intellectual arenas ofBangladesh. Many distinguished and eminent scholars have taught here over the years. Among themSurendranath Dasgupta, Beni Madhab Das, Bhabatosh Dutta, Jogesh Chandra Singha, Mansury Uddin, Motahar hossain Chowdhury. Momtazuddin Ahmed and Dr. Mohammad Yunus to name a few.
