Meghna Condensed Milk Industries-KA (MGOLD) was established in the year 2001 at Boral, Sadar South (Laksham), Comilla. The products of our industry, which is the largest Condensed Milk Industry in Asia are entirely export oriented. Our shareholders are aware of the fact that joint initiatives were taken by the Ministry of Industries and the Ministry of Commerce to export our products. As a result, Memorandums of Understanding were signed with the Government of Britain and the Government of France for exporting Condensed Milk worth US$ 10 million and US$ 20million respectively. We also received export orders from various companies based all over the world, including Saudi Arabia, UAE and Thailand.Fresh Sweetened Condensed Milk in Bangladesh is now being produced by us in joint collaboration with APV Nordic Dairy Denmark, which is a global leader in dairy plant installation.In 2008, we commenced production of condensed milk after being closed for over 7 years. The reasons for the closure are many and varied in nature, chief among which was the laches on the part of government agencies to complete the export formalities which eventually resulted in the Memorandums of Understanding being frustrated and the export orders being cancelled. Consequently, our companies suffered grave financial loss, more so since a substantial amount of working capital had already been infused for the import of raw materials such as milk powder, tin plates and copper wire with a view to exporting finished goods.Furthermore, conflict and complications arose out of the estranged business relationship between the members of Meghna Group which precipitated in acrimonious disputes amongst the sponsor directors leading to the closure of our companies. Moreover, the financing banks failed to co-operate with us inasmuch as they unlawfully refused to grant Working Capital loans in favour of our companies which also resulted in the closure of our companies, details of which have been set out in the last report of the Management and that of the Board of Directors. Eventually Meghna Group of Industries was bifurcated into two groups, being Meghna Group 'Ka' and Meghna Group 'Kha’. Group "Ka was headed by our current Vice Chairman Mr. Md. Zakaria and Group ‘Kha’ was headed by one Mustafa Kamal. At present, by the grace of Almighty Allah, we have successfully managed to overcome all our problems. The operation of the industry has resumed in January 2008. Production of Sweetened Condensed Milk has recommenced in April 2008. Our products are being marketed as "FRESH" Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk. Production is increasing day by day on the basis of market demand. In the near future, we will be setting up another unit to produce Non-Sweetened Condensed Milk (Evaporated Condensed Milk). As pioneers in the field of manufacturing Sweetened and Non-Sweetened Condensed Milk, we are committed to improving the quality of our products. In future, we plan to produce new items such as beverage creamer, mini-sachet, new format in tins etc. We also plan to enhance production capacities and processes to meet market demands both at home and abroad. This is the challenge facing us today as an export oriented industry.
